Chronicle snatched the box offices this weekend, earning $22 million- enough to  beat out Daniel Radcliffe's The Woman in Black by $1 million.

The story follows high school students Andrew (Dane DeHaan), Steve Michael B. Jordan) and Matt, (Alex Russel) who after discovering an underground alien artifact begin to develop strange telekinetic powers.

While it received generally positive reviews, the actors' portrayals were wooden, and the characters themselves were carbon copies of your typical high school drama.

The events were depicted from the main character's camera, giving the film a documentary feel.

"There was little or no characterization, so it was hard to get into the story," senior English major Katherine Nue said.  "The camera angles were distracting, not brilliant."

The story was okay as it tried to portray things in a fairly realistic light, but the scenes were, at times, too predictable.

Chronicle was good enough to see once, but definitely not good enough to see multiple times.
