UTM senior linebacker Markeseo Jackson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in the Skyhawks' 10-6 victory over Samford University this past Saturday. Jackson led the Skyhawks with seven solo tackles and one assisted tackle (eight total tackles). He also had a fumble recovery and one pass breakup in the win over Samford. He helped limit the Samford offense to 97 yards rushing and 131 yards of passing. Jackson is also a candidate for The Buck Buchanan Award, an honor that goes to the top defensive player in I-AA football.
