With a mid-March deadline, 63 people have applied for the UTM chancellor position, to be vacated by retiring Chancellor Nick Dunagan.
Of the applicants, 36 sent their application to the university and 27 submitted their application via Baker Parker Global Executive Search Inc., which the UT system has hired to administer an external search. UT system President Dr. John Petersen agreed to pay for the Baker Parker search.
Dr. Thomas Rakes, UTM provost, has announced he has already applied for the position.
According to an email from Dr. Jerald Ogg, once the applications are reviewed by a committee and campus interviews are conducted in early or mid-April, the responsibility to interview the recommended candidates will lie with Petersen. Students will be asked to attend, Ogg said.
After these interviews, the announcement of the final decision will be made by early May.
The projected calendar of events for this search lists the starting date for the new chancellor as being July 1 of this year. For the complete listing of upcoming dates on this search, visit http://www.utm.edu/csearch.php and then click on the hyperlink for the chancellor search timeline.
