PRSSA is a student organization for students who are interested in Public Relations and Communications.
The group meets often and discusses the world of PR and what can be done throughout the campus to educate the public about this field. The mission of PRSSA is to enhance students’ education, broaden networks and launch careers. The faculty advisor for the UTM chapter is UTM Communications Professor Dr. Jeff Hoyer.
On Wednesday, April 3, PRSSA will host an etiquette luncheon and fashion show in the UC. The event will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. UTM Assistant Professor of Communications Dr. Teresa Collard and UTM Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences Dr. Lisa LeBleu will instruct the etiquette portion. This will include table manners, as well as how to act at a professional dinner using the proper place setting. Following the etiquette portion will be a fashion show led by UTM Professor of Family and Consumer Sciences Dr. Sue Byrd and her students. The fashion show will include teaching students what is appropriate and inappropriate for interviews and work places.
The cost for the event is $19; however, communications seniors currently enrolled in Senior Seminar will have the cost waved by signing up with their professor.
President of PRSSA and senior Public Relations major Kara Kidwell encourages all students to attend the luncheon.
“It’s a really good investment for all students, because they will learn about how to properly dress and act in a professional environment,” Kidwell said.
