Register soon for Grand Finale, Senior Walk

The deadline for UTM seniors to sign up for the annual Senior Walk and Grand Finale Celebration, set for Wednesday, April 25, has been extended to Monday, April 23.

Students may RSVP by calling 731-881-7610 or by registering at utmforever.com, according to the Office of Alumni Relations.

Charley Deal, director of Alumni Relations, said the lack of study days this semester led to changes in the schedule of events for the celebration.

This year, the Senior Walk, beginning at 3:45 p.m., will kick off the event.

“The students will gather outside the University Center and will take a route that passes the statues, goes between EPS and the library toward the Elam Center,” Deal said. “Commencement practice will begin at 4 p.m. in the Elam Center and is for all 2012 graduates – spring, summer and fall.

“The Grand Finale Celebration will get started at 5 p.m. on the main floor of the Elam Center. We will drop 1,000 balloons as we raise the curtain to welcome our new alumni to the alumni association,” Deal added.

Food, music and plenty of give-a-ways will be available, Deal said, adding that spring graduates will have the opportunity to receive their commencement ticket allotment during the celebration.

Faculty, staff and students are invited to line up along the walk route to cheer the seniors.
