Player Profile: Midori Sera
Midori Sera lights up the soccer field as well as the classroom.
Sera is a senior Finance major that hails from San Francisco, CA. When not on the soccer field, she is busy studying, which is why Sera is on the Chancellor's Honor roll.
A five-foot-seven midfielder, Sera plays as number 10 on the women's soccer team. Before coming to UTM, Sera played for Skyline College in San Bruno, CA, for two years. While there she was the program's All-American and the team's MVP. Because of her 4.0 Grade Point Average, Sera also received a NATYCAA Scholar-Athlete Award.
Sera came to UTM as a last-minute thing.
"Soccer drew me here. I just knew I would get a decent education," Sera said.
Sera has had a long history with the sport of soccer.
"I started playing when I was about eight," Sera said.
Although she admits to quitting the sport for a few years at the age of 14, Sera picked it up again at age 18.
Sera stays active even in her spare time.
"I like to do yoga. I like camping, traveling [and] outdoor activities," Sera said.
Sera also has other interests outside of physical activities.
"I got into Glee on Netflix. I got on the Glee hype," Sera said.
As to her career goals, Sera has her sights set high.
"Eventual career goals would probably encompass advancing my education in the area of finance. I also [am] enrolled in a tax accounting course this semester and it has made me highly consider incorporating tax/tax law into my future," Sera said.
Although she will be leaving campus after this semester and graduating next spring, Sera had a positive experience at UTM.
"UTM provided a conducive environment for focusing on my studies and the faculty members were all very dedicated to making themselves available to help students that requested it," Sera said.
Sera had one last message for UTM students.
"The student body should support soccer because it's a great sport and the program is becoming better at a rapid rate. Check out a game or two," Sera said.
