The OVC Champion Women's Soccer team is headed to Kentucky as they face the Wildcats in the first round of the 2012 semifinals.

Waiting with anticipation the women found out at the selection show Monday, Nov. 5, where they were headed.

Coach Phil McNamara said, " We could play anywhere: Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Florida."

As the announcement was made, shouts of excitement went out throughout the audience.

Senior Kendyl Wilson was excited.

Wilson said  "It shows that just because we're small, doesn't mean we can't win.

"We have developed as a team and we know each other's strengths and weaknesses, and how to play with each other in order to succeed and go further.

"The big key is not to get nervous and play for each other. If we play to our potential, we can beat any team," Wilson said.

Defender Ashley Reveiz said she is "just excited and ready and can't wait to prepare. We are going to use what we learned in the preseason and conference games."

McNamara said the team was "18-1 in the last seven games." (For the non-soccer initiated, that means in the last seven games, the Skyhawks scored 18 points to their opponents one point.

"With four starters out, the depth and quality of the team has showed. Players have stepped forward," McNamara said.
