  • Softball goes 3-1 in Florida tournament

    The UTM softball team wrapped up play in the Florida Gulf Coast Tournament Sunday against Boston College in a game where the winner also claimed the tournament title. Both UTM and Boston College entered the tilt with identical 3-1 records. The Skyhawks claimed victories over Saint Louis, Binghamton and Delaware, and suffered a loss to tournament host Florida Gulf Coast University.

    The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball team battled throughout during tonight's game at Southeastern Louisiana, but in the end Roosevelt Johnson's 23 points and 19 rebounds paced the Lions to a 64-48 win at the University Center.   • Butler Skyhawks soar to first in OVC

    The last time The UTM women's basketball team scored less than 80 points and walked out of the gym as a winner was Dec. 16 2011, when the Skyhawks defeated Evansville 78-69. That changed Saturday night as the Skyhawks posted a 77-44 victory over host Southeast Missouri State in the Show Me Center.

  • Hall Skyhawk women tied for first in OVC

    UTM defeated Eastern Illinois 94-86 in overtime at the Elam Center, Saturday night. With the win, the Skyhawks tied EIU for first place within the OVC. This win also continued a home winning streak for the Skyhawks, for they have not lost to EIU at the Elam Center since the 2009 season.

  • Basketball Men’s basketball drops heartbreaker to No. 9 Murray State

    The UTM men's basketball squad nearly shocked the world on Saturday night, losing to the number nine team in the nation and bitter OVC rival, Murray State, by only 7 points, 65-58. The Skyhawks held the Racers to their lowest point total against an OVC foe, and it was also the second-lowest score they recorded versus any opponent so far this season.

    The Skyhawks took flight against OVC rival Murray State, Saturday night in the Elam Center. With UTM's dynamic duo at the helm, the Skyhawks defeated Murray State, 84-67. UTM gained two victories in one contest, and the sweetest win did not happen on the court.

  • Butler Guard play too much for SEMO

    Sophomore guards Heather Butler and Jasmine Newsome put on a scoring clinic against OVC foe Southeast Missouri Saturday night, January 28th at the Elam Center en route to an 88-47 victory. Butler led all scorers with 25 points and Newsome added 19 in the win.

  • Skyhawk men Skyhawk men fall to OVC foe Tennessee State University

    The Skyhawk men's basketball team were grounded against a tough Tennessee State University team 72-59 on January  26, at the Elam Center. With the loss, UTM remains win less in the OVC, falling to 0-9 in the conference. TSU improves to 5-4. TSU's star forward, junior Robert Covington, made the first buckets of the game sinking two free throws.

  • Equestrian team falls to two of nation’s best

        The UTM equestrian team hosted two nationally ranked opponents, New Mexico State and Kansas State, on campus this past Friday and Saturday at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Complex. Kansas State claimed a 5-0 victory in Reining to earn a 7-3 victory in the Western Discipline, while UTM earned a 7-3 victory in the Hunter Seat Discipline.

  • Rifle members impress over holidays

    Over The UTM break after the fall 2011 commencement, several Skyhawk rifle team members returned home and racked up some impressive awards.   Each year USA Shooting – the national governing body for shooting who selects, trains and coaches the US Olympic, World Championship and Pan Am Games teams – holds Junior Olympic Championships in each state.
