For more than 12 years, Bill Fuqua has hosted a dove shoot at his farm on Old Salem Road in Martin. This year will be no different as Fuqua's shoot is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 1.
Dove season officially opens at noon Monday, but hunters are encouraged to come out early and pick their spot.
Hunters will be charged $10 to participate and all proceeds from the shoot go to the University of Tennessee at Martin women's basketball program. Refreshments will be available throughout the day at the shoot.
"We've been doing this for the past 12 to 15 years," Fuqua said.
"The only thing that's changed is the team that we're helping this year. In the past we've used the dove shoot to help out softball teams that I've coached or the middle school and high school teams."
