For students wanting to get involved, meet new people or be active, intramural sports at UTM offers a fun way to do that. Intramural sports open many possibilities, including chances to compete. For students living on campus, it’s free. Leagues are even designed with different skill levels in mind, so all different levels of athletes can play.

Soccer and tennis are two intramural sports coming up on campus this month. The sign-up deadline for soccer is Sept. 4 and games start Sept. 6. As for tennis, sign-up must be completed by Sept. 10 and games start Sept. 11.

One student, senior Psychology major Kristen Bailey, has played both soccer and volleyball on campus in the past and loves the friendly competition.

“Even if you are not good at any sport, you can still try. Just have fun!” Bailey said.

Also, for those interested in leading intramurals more than playing them, students can officiate soccer games and make $8 an hour. Training for this starts at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 4.

For more information on intramural sports, contact the Student Rec center or the residence halls on campus.
