In the soccer game this past Friday, the Skyhawks scored as they won against the Morehead Eagles 2 to 0, with an assist from Saphyra Coombs-James, #13, and Alyssa Curtis, #9, in the first 29 seconds of the game.
This shocked all the fans and set the tone for the rest of the game. With many attempts by both teams to score, neither team was letting it go easily. Close to the end of the first quarter, however, Abi Sanvee, #11, with an assist for Kendyl Wilson, #23, scored our second point.
For the rest of the game it was like watching a ballet. Each team would get the ball and in a fluid-like motion, it would be passed to the next teammate.
The goal keeper Elizabeth Floyd, #01, did a great job with 6 saves for the whole game. During half time, Sports Information Director Joe Lofaro invited four young teams to play on the field and entertain the crowd. There was quite a crowd there for the Skyhawks, encouraging the team to victory.
Both teams did a great job, but the Eagles just couldn’t stop the Skyhawks from taking victory. This adds eight wins to their total so far this season, and with more games like this, there will be much more to look forward to.
