Skyhawks Defeated by SEMO Redhawks

The UTM Skyhawks fell 3-1 against the Southeastern Missouri Redhawks on Nov. 6 in The Skyhawk Fieldhouse .
The Skyhawks came out ready to battle and won the first set, 26-24. However, even with the enthusiastic crowd of students, the Skyhawks just could not defeat the Redhawks.
The SEMO Redhawks showed why they are the division leaders in the following three sets, winning 25-19, 25-18, 25-19, respectively. SEMO finished with a .218 attack percentage for the evening. They also recorded 53 kills, 85 digs, and 47 assists.
UTM finished with .116 attack percentage, 51 kills, 88 digs and 48 assists. Allie Whimpey led the Skyhawks with 11 kills, followed by Shelby Hoskins and Emily Keaton with eight. Kasey Elswick finished the game with a team high of 30 digs. Amanda Crask, continued her strong play with 41 assists and 12 digs.
With this loss, the Skyhawks have a 6-9 record in conference play, and 10-19 overall.
The regular season finale will be Nov. 10 against the Gamecocks of Jacksonville State in Skyhawk Fieldhouse. This game will be particularly big, being that it is senior day. Kasey Elswick will be honored. Game time is set for 2:00 p.m.
