The Women’s Volleyball team served up a victory of 3-1 against Murray State on Oct. 5.
The game started at 7 p.m., and both teams fought hard to win. After the Skyhawks won the first set, the Lady Racers fought back hard to win the second. After a break, the Skyhawks flew to victory winning the last two sets and showing great teamwork.
The last two sets were close with 25-22 and 25-24 scores. The Racers didn’t make this easy, but the Skyhawks pushed through.
Amanda Crask, Allie Whimpey and Jackie Harter made several strong blocks throughout all of the sets. They seemed to be on point and helped score quite a few points. Senior Kasey Elswick did a great job as well, on the court and off. She showed great team support and advice throughout the game. Emily Keaton also had some great moments in this game, with one serve that couldn’t be returned by the Racers, guiding the Skyhawks to their win.
This adds seven wins to the team’s results so far this season, and if they can play like this every game, many more should be in their future. Not one player can really be singled out; this was a team effort and moment to shine.
Freshman Amanda Crask was the one to hit the winning shot over the net. Overall, it was apparent that the whole team put out a great effort, and it certainly paid off big.
