The spring 2012 edition of BeanSwitch, the University of Tennessee at Martin’s art and literature magazine, will be released Monday, April 23, at a special preview event in the Dougherty Tennessee Room of the university’s Holland McCombs Center. The event will begin at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.

BeanSwitch publishes original art and literature created by UT Martin students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community. UT Martin students, including co-executive editors Misty Dunlap, of Dresden, and Sheila Scott, of Kenton, and art editor Sarah Grace Jaggars, of Selmer, run the magazine. Dr. Jeff Longacre, assistant professor of English, and Tomi Parrish, instructor of communications, serve as faculty advisers.

Artists, poets and authors who have work published in this edition will attend and display original art and offer readings from the magazine. Light refreshments will be served, and musical entertainment is also planned.

“We’ll have live musical entertainment by a new duo called Rhapsody in 2,” Scott said. “The performers are John-Alex Warner and his partner, Garrett Ransom. They’ll play a variety of songs on the piano and saxophone, including the theme song from Titanic.” Warner and Ransom attend Union City High School.
